Canoe Polo

A 5v5 team sport similar to Water Polo...but on a canoe.

The sport's uniqueness and the opportunity to learn multiple skills at once was what made me interested to join. Singapore Polytechnic Canoe Polo (SPCP) is the only 

My position is the Goalkeeper, but unlike Football, I am able to participate in the offensive plays alongside my teammates.

Leadership

This sport gave me many opportunities to develop my leadership and communication skills.

Overseas Learning

Went to Batam, Indonesia, for a Leadership Development Programme (LEAP) as the CCA representative. Learned and applied valuable leadership concepts through demanding situations. Click here for more information about the programme.

Hosting Events

Organized two major events, SP Canoe Polo Open Championship and SP Canoe Polo Freshmen Orientation Camp, as the Vice Chairman. The skills I developed significantly helped me deal with dire situations and supervising the organizing team throughout the events.

Responsibilities

  • Organized weekly physical trainings to improve members' strength to prepare for competitions
  • Initiate clean ups and reorganizing of club storage to ensure conducive and clean environment for club members
  • Organized SP Canoe Polo Freshmen Orientation Camp to initiate new members into the club (2024)
  • Organized Singapore Polytechnic Canoe Polo Open Championship, Vice Chairman of event (2025)
  • Led a team in Nanyang Technological University Canoe Polo Open Championship (2025)
  • Hosted a volunteering activity, beach clean-up at Jurong Central Park (2024)

Competitions

U21 Asian Canoe Polo Championship

In 2025, I was part the Singapore U21 Canoe Polo team and participated in the Asian Canoe Polo Championship in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Although we were not on podium, I am proud to represent the country.


Inter-Tertiary Competition, Pesta Sukan

A competition held at Bedok Reservoir for schools to go against one another, this includes universities like NTU and NUS. My team able to come in first for two consecutive years, 2024-2025. 

Singapore Polytechnic Open Championship

Hosted by Singapore Polytechnic, consisting of two divisions for fair and equal chances for every team. I was the vice-chairman in charge of this event in 2025.

Nanyang Technological University Open Championship

NTU also organize a competition at Pandan Reservoir as an open championship annually. In 2026, my friends and I formed a new team and became Singapore's top 8 team.
